About Invisalign

Convenient Treatment That Fits Your Life

If you’ve ever wanted a straighter smile without obvious metal braces, Invisalign clear aligners could be the perfect fit for you. Dr. Diana and Dr. Neil are certified experts in using Invisalign to provide effective and efficient treatment to create your perfect smile!

The Invisalign Process

Invisalign is much more comfortable than traditional metal bracket braces and can give you stunning results.

Invisalign uses a series of customized, clear aligners to gradually straighten your teeth with fewer office visits to our Beverly, Salem, South Hamilton, or Topsfield offices than traditional braces. They’re also removable, nearly invisible, and completely customized for your smile.

When you come to New England Orthodontic Specialists for your complimentary consultation, we’ll take photos and X-rays to create a 3D image of your mouth. We use these images to make your first set of custom-fitted aligners and then you’ll begin the process of straightening your teeth.

You’ll probably wear Invisalign aligners for 9-15 months, and will typically use 18-30 sets during your treatment. You wear the trays for about 22 hours a day as recommended by Dr. Diana or Dr. Neil, but can remove them to brush your teeth and eat. Based on your individual needs, you’ll wear several sets of trays throughout your orthodontic treatment at New England Orthodontic Specialists. The best part is that you’ll start to notice a change in just a few months!

Differences Between Invisalign & Braces

Unlike traditional braces, smooth plastic Invisalign aligners don’t have metal components that can irritate your mouth.

Because they’re removed when you eat, you won’t have to watch what you eat like you would when wearing braces bring on the chewy and crunchy snacks! In fact, the aligners must be removed for eating and drinking anything other than water.

You need to be sure you’re willing to do that before you decide on Invisalign clear aligners.

To prevent staining, you’ll need to clean your teeth before putting the aligners back on after each time you eat.

Of course, brushing and flossing are much easier than with traditional braces, since you don’t have to work around any brackets and wires.

Your Invisalign Responsibility

When it comes to Invisalign treatment, there’s a lot to consider. Most Invisalign patients at New England Orthodontic Specialists enjoy shorter check-ups, fewer appointments, better oral hygiene, and fewer emergency visits.

However, the system’s biggest pro can also be a con the ability to remove the aligners. Your cooperation is essential, whether you have braces or Invisalign.

Since braces are attached to your teeth, they do the heavy lifting to keep your treatment progressing. With Invisalign, you need to do a little extra work during your treatment so your trays can work effectively.

Like with traditional braces, you’ll generally need to wear a retainer after Invisalign treatment, as recommended by Dr. Diana or Dr. Neil, to maintain your new alignment and your confident new smile.

Invisalign For Kids

At New England Orthodontic Specialists, we understand the importance of early treatment when it comes to orthodontics for children. Early treatment can help prevent more complex issues from developing down the line and can result in shorter overall treatment times. One of our most popular orthodontic treatments for kids is Invisalign First.

Invisalign First is an excellent option for younger patients because it is specifically designed with their needs in mind. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign First uses clear aligners that are virtually invisible and can be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing. This makes them much more comfortable and convenient for kids who may have trouble adjusting to the restrictions of traditional braces.

One of the advantages of early orthodontic treatment is that it enables us to correct issues before they become more complex and difficult to treat. There are several signs that indicate the need for orthodontic attention in children. These include:

  • Difficulty biting or chewing
  • Mouth breathing
  • Thumb-sucking after age 5
  • Crowded or misplaced teeth
  • Speech difficulties
  • Protruding teeth
  • Grinding or clenching teeth

By addressing these issues early on with Invisalign First, we can help ensure that your child’s teeth and jaw develop in the healthiest way possible.

Invisalign First: What You Need to Know

Invisalign First is designed with younger patients in mind. The aligners are made of clear, BPA-free plastic, making them both comfortable and discreet. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners can be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing, which makes maintaining good oral hygiene much easier for kids.

Invisalign First aligners are also designed to accommodate growing teeth and jaws, which means they’re much less likely to require additional orthodontic treatment down the line. Additionally, Invisalign First aligners gradually shift teeth into their proper position, making the process more gentle and comfortable for kids.

How Invisalign First Works

At the start of your child’s treatment, we’ll take digital impressions of their teeth using our state-of-the-art iTero scanner. This technology allows us to create a 3D model of your child’s teeth and map out their treatment plan. From there, we’ll create a series of custom aligners that will gradually shift your child’s teeth into their proper position over time.

Your child will wear each set of aligners for about two weeks before switching to the next set in the series. Over time, their teeth will gradually shift into alignment, resulting in a straighter, healthier smile.

Is Invisalign First Right for Your Child?

Invisalign First is an excellent option for many younger patients, but it’s not right for everyone. During your child’s initial consultation, we’ll evaluate their teeth and jaw to determine if Invisalign First is the best treatment option for them.

If you’re interested in learning more about Invisalign First for your child or would like to request a consultation, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re always here to help you find the best orthodontic treatment option for your child’s needs.

Invisalign For Teens

Your Teen Will Love Invisalign

At New England Orthodontic Specialists, we want our teen patients to be excited about starting their journey toward straighter teeth, and Invisalign for Teens helps us do that. Invisalign doesn’t use brackets, wires, and bands like traditional braces.

We understand that there is a certain stigma associated with wearing braces as a teen. Invisalign Teen is an excellent alternative for teenagers worried about their appearance in braces.

At your initial consultation, Dr. Diana and Dr. Neil will be able to determine if Invisalign for Teens is the best option for your unique smile.

An Almost Invisible Solution

The Invisalign for Teens aligners are made of clear plastic and almost invisible. Your friends probably won’t even know you’re wearing them. Instead of sporting metal braces, New England Orthodontic Specialists Invisalign patients enjoy the confidence of showing off their smiles every day.

You probably have friends with braces who aren’t allowed to chew gum or eat certain foods like popcorn and whole apples. With Invisalign for Teens, the aligners are completely removable, so you can eat all of your favorite foods whenever you want.

This also means you can easily keep brushing and flossing as you normally would for proper oral hygiene. Try that with braces.

Whether you play sports or a musical instrument, traditional metal braces can present some new challenges. It’s hard to perform at your best knowing you could get hit in the mouth with a ball, or cut your lip trying to hit that note on the trumpet!

Invisalign for Teens helps you focus on doing what you do best being a teen. At your initial consultation with Dr. Diana or Dr. Neil, you’ll find out if Invisalign is a good fit for your smile and your lifestyle!

How Does Invisalign Work?

On your first visit, we’ll use our intraoral camera and 3D technology to create a digital impression of your teeth. Once we have an accurate representation of your mouth, Dr. Diana or Dr. Neil can create a customized treatment plan that will be used to create your custom aligners.

Each tray is designed to apply gentle pressure on your teeth, slowly moving them to the proper position. Throughout your treatment, your orthodontist is closely monitoring the movement of your teeth and making adjustments as needed to achieve a successful end result.

We understand that wearing an aligner close to full-time is a big responsibility for adults, let alone teenagers. That’s why Invisalign for Teens comes with a blue indicator that will fade as your teen wears their aligners. This lets us know if your teen is meeting their wear time requirements.

Is Invisalign for Teens Right for You?

The Invisalign system can be used in many orthodontic cases. We’ll determine if your teen is a good candidate for Invisalign during their initial consultation.

Our doctors will perform a comprehensive examination and a thorough review of your specific situation and discuss all the options with you.

Benefits of Invisalign for Teens

There are plenty of benefits of Invisalign for Teens to get excited about. Perhaps the biggest benefit is that your teen can eat the foods they’ve always loved.

With braces, there are lots of foods your teen would have to avoid many favorite foods. The aligners are removed for meals, and you don’t need to worry about breaking anything.

Removable Plastic

With Invisalign, teens don’t have to worry about embarrassing metal braces in their yearbook photos or on social media sites. The trays are made from a clear plastic that’s far less visible than braces. Most people won’t know they’re undergoing treatment.

Additionally, the Invisalign trays are often more comfortable and convenient than traditional braces. Because they’re removable, brushing and flossing is a breeze. Traditional braces require special care to avoid tooth decay and gum disease during treatment.

Perfect for Busy Families

If an aligner tray is damaged or lost, your teen may be able to move on to the next tray in the series. Unlike damaged braces, an immediate appointment is usually not necessary.

Invisalign treatment also requires fewer appointments throughout treatment than braces. Invisalign can be an ideal solution for those going away to school or for those with busy schedules who can’t come in as often.

Great for Active Teens

Invisalign for Teens effectively straightens teeth the same way metal braces do. Invisalign for Teens is an ideal choice for teens who play sports, play certain types of instruments, love crunchy foods, or are worried about how metal braces will look at homecoming or in the yearbook.

As a teenager, you should be able to participate in the activities you’re interested in while still having the confidence to attend social events and make lasting memories. You should also be able to get efficient orthodontic treatment for crowded teeth, uneven spacing, and bite issues.

With the clear, comfortable technology of Invisalign, and Dr. Diana and Dr. Neils’s expert care, teens can keep being themselves and love their smiles even more.

Doesn’t Cost More than Traditional Braces

Financing options are also available to make Invisalign more affordable for your family. The New England Orthodontic Specialists team is here to answer any questions regarding financing, payment plans, and insurance claims.

Invisalign For Adults

Orthodontic treatment is not just for children. In fact, healthy teeth can be moved at any age, and many orthodontic problems can be corrected as easily for adults as for children. Orthodontic treatment can improve oral health, facial appearance, confidence and self-esteem, tooth function, periodontal (gum) problems, tooth decay by improving areas where plaque builds up, bone loss around teeth, and abnormal wearing to the tooth surface.

At New England Orthodontic Specialists, we offer a variety of orthodontic treatment options for adults, including Invisalign. Invisalign is a popular treatment option for adults because it is discreet, comfortable, and effective.

Benefits of Invisalign for Adults

  • Comfortable Invisalign aligners are made using advanced technology and custom-fit to your teeth. This means that they’re much more comfortable than traditional braces, which can cause irritation and discomfort.
  • Convenient Invisalign aligners are removable, which means that you can take them out when you need to eat, brush, or floss. This makes maintaining good oral hygiene much easier than with traditional braces.
  • Effective Invisalign aligners are designed to gradually shift your teeth into their proper position over time. This means that you can achieve a straighter, healthier smile without the discomfort or inconvenience of traditional braces.
  • Versatile Invisalign can be used to treat a wide range of orthodontic issues, including overcrowded teeth, widely spaced teeth, crossbite, overbite, and underbite.
